Naturally Beautiful Facial Rejuvenation

Research has indicated that PRP and PRF therapy can enhance skin texture, skin thickness, and tone, diminish the visibility of acne scars, and stimulate hair growth. This minimally invasive treatment does not require much downtime, making it a preferred option for individuals who want a natural alternative to conventional cosmetic procedures. Our Chance + Co Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics providers are fond of the understated yet evident facial rejuvenation these therapies offer our patients.

What is PRP/PRF?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) are derived from your blood and used in various medical fields for their regenerative properties. When it comes to skin, PRP/PRF can help stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

During a PRP/PRF treatment, a small amount of blood is drawn from your arm and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma or fibrin from the other blood components. The resulting substance is then injected into your skin using a fine needle.

PRP/PRF treatments are generally safe and have minimal downtime. However, it's important to note that results can vary and may take several weeks to become noticeable. You may require multiple treatments to achieve your desired results.

PRP versus PRF

PRP is a well-established treatment involving drawing a small amount of your blood, processing it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, and injecting this plasma into the skin.

The high concentration of growth factors and platelets in PRP promotes healing, stimulates collagen production, and enhances skin texture and tone. PRP is widely recognized for its effectiveness in reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and overall skin aging.

PRF is a newer advancement in regenerative medicine. Like PRP, it starts with a blood draw and uses centrifugation to concentrate platelets. However, PRF goes a step further by allowing the platelets to clot naturally, forming a fibrin matrix.

This matrix acts as a scaffold, providing sustained release of growth factors over time and promoting longer-lasting results. PRF is often used for its enhanced ability to support tissue regeneration and provide deeper, more comprehensive rejuvenation.

Differences Between PRP and PRF

  • Processing and Composition: PRP is a liquid with a high concentration of platelets, while PRF includes a fibrin matrix that acts as a support structure, allowing for a slower release of growth factors.
  • Longevity of Results: Due to the fibrin matrix in PRF, the treatment can offer longer-lasting results compared to PRP, which tends to provide more immediate, though shorter-term, effects.
  • Application: PRF can be injected using a small needle or a cannula, depending on the area being treated and the desired outcome. This flexibility allows for more precise and targeted treatment.

Why Both PRP and PRF?

Offering both PRP and PRF allows Chance + Co to tailor treatments to individual needs and preferences. PRP may be chosen for its straightforward application and quicker results, while PRF might be preferred for its prolonged effects and deeper rejuvenation benefits. The choice between PRP and PRF will depend on your specific goals, skin condition, and the recommendations of your skincare professional.

PRP/PRF Treatment

Our Chance + Co Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics providers will evaluate your skin and medical history before administering the PRP/PRF treatment to determine your eligibility. If you meet the criteria, she will draw a small amount of blood, usually from your arm, and place it in a centrifuge machine to separate the platelets and fibrin from the red and white blood cells. For discomfort with this procedure, we will have the patient numb with a topical numbing agent prior to the appointment or we use small injections of lidocaine to improve comfort during the procedure when using a cannula. This is something we discuss in consultation with the patient prior to scheduling. PRF is injected using small needles or cannula depending on the areas being targeted. PRF can also be used with microneedling to improve results or after laser treatments to help with healing. The procedure duration is typically between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.

Benefits of PRP/PRF

If you're looking for a natural way to rejuvenate your skin, PRP/PRF may be the solution you've been searching for. Here are some benefits of PRP/PRF for skin:

Stimulates collagen production

PRP/PRF contains growth factors that promote collagen production in your skin. Collagen is a protein that keeps your skin firm and elastic, and your body produces less of it as you age. PRP/PRF injections can help stimulate the production of new collagen, improving the texture and tone of your skin.

Reduces fine lines and wrinkles

PRP/PRF injections can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on your face. The growth factors in PRP/PRF can help improve your skin's elasticity, making your wrinkles less noticeable.

Improves skin texture and tone

PRP/PRF can also enhance the texture and tone of your skin. The growth factors in PRP/PRF can help improve your skin's overall health, making it look smoother and more even.

Reduces the appearance of scars

PRP/PRF injections can also help reduce the appearance of scars on your skin. The growth factors in PRP/PRF can help promote healing and tissue regeneration, reducing the appearance of scars.

PRF enhances hair growth

Dr. Chance uses PRF to help regenerate hair follicles and stimulate thick, healthy hair growth. For those dealing with thinning hair and early hair loss, PRF is a proven, effective way to naturally regain their full head of hair.

PRF banishes under-eye hollows

PRF injections applied meticulously under the eyes help your body naturally regrow the tissues to restore lost volume. The growth factors reduce dark circles and undereye hollows to achieve a youthful effect without fillers.

Minimal downtime

PRP/PRF injections are minimally invasive and require little to no downtime and only a brief recovery period. You may experience some redness or swelling at the injection site, but this typically disappears within a few days.

SkinPen Microneedling With PRF

PRF treatments can be performed with the SkinPen microneedling tool. SkinPen microneedling is used to create small micro-channels in the skin. These micro-channels allow the PRF solution to reach deeper into the underlying layers of skin in order to better encourage cellular regeneration and collagen production.

SkinPen is a medical-grade, cutting-edge microneedling tool that uses tiny, sterile needles to generate tiny injuries in the skin. In addition to the benefits of the PRF itself, these tiny injuries trigger the body's natural healing process and stimulate collagen production. Adding PRF greatly enhances overall skin tone and firmness, helps to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, and smooths skin texture.

Like PRP/PRF injections, SkinPen microneedling requires little to no downtime. Most patients can return to their regular routines the same day after their treatment. However, expect some redness, swelling, and minor discomfort in the treated region. These minor side effects typically fade quickly.

Results will appear as soon as one week after treatment, and these results will continue to improve over the following weeks and months as your body naturally rebuilds your skin structure from within. You will see smoother, younger-looking skin, better skin texture, fewer fine lines and wrinkles, and a generally rejuvenated appearance.

EZ Gel PRF

Dr. Chance uses EZ Gel PRF for facial rejuvenation. Like PRP/PRF, EZ Gel PRF is derived from your own blood. However, it undergoes a unique processing method. This achieves a more concentrated gel-like substance that is firmer and similar to a synthetic filler. EZ Gel PRF is called the "natural filler" because it achieves regenerative results with the growth factors in your own blood.

EZ Gel PRF is ideal for treating under-eye hollows and contouring the face to achieve overall facial regeneration. It integrates with the body’s tissues to achieve natural-looking yet significant improvements in volume loss, wrinkles, and facial harmony. Additionally, results improve over time as growth factors and collagen production continue to achieve beautiful changes.

Stunning, Long-Lasting Results

Dr. Chance highly recommends PRP/PRF therapy due to its versatility and effectiveness. This treatment shows great promise for improving skin quality and reducing the signs of aging. Multiple studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of PRP/PRF for skin rejuvenation, with improvements in skin texture, tone, and elasticity. It can also reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. PRP/PRF can be applied to various areas of the face, such as the lips, forehead, and chin, to provide a more sculpted and youthful appearance. By injecting or applying PRP/PRF to the treatment area, the platelets and growth factors help regenerate tissue and stimulate the growth of new cells and collagen growth. Recovering From PRP/PRF

Recovery from PRP/PRF therapy is typically minimal, and patients can usually resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure. Some patients may experience mild swelling, bruising, or redness at the injection site, but these side effects usually subside within a few hours to a few days.

To minimize discomfort or swelling, patients should avoid applying makeup or other skincare products to the treatment area for at least 24 hours after the procedure. It is also recommended to avoid exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures for a few days following the treatment.

Patients should follow any post-treatment instructions provided by Dr. Chance carefully to ensure optimal results. It is essential to remember that the full effects of PRP/PRF therapy may take several weeks to become noticeable, as the body needs time to generate new cells and collagen.
